FRIDAY
This show is a benefit for local food shelves that I talked about before will feature some great bands playing for a great cause. The show costs $8 and is $1 less with each item of food you bring, so if you got 8 cans of soup sitting around, you can see this cool show for free.
Triple Rock 10 Year Anniversary: Lucero + The Evening Rig + Prairie Sons (Triple Rock) Come celebrate the Triple Rock being 10 years old with a couple hundred of your drinking buddies while being serenaded by some of the best local (Evening Rig) and national (Lucero) alt country rock and roll. Should be a really great time.
What’s That? A Radiohead Project + Exit Stage Right: A Tribute to Rush (Terminal Bar)
Read what I posted about this show
yesterday.
A good indie rapper who will bring some intensity to the Entry on a cold Friday night.
Kid Dakota + Clawlike Things [CD Release] (400 Bar)
Darren Jackson of Kid Dakota keeps up his streak of producing every other local album that comes out. His newest project is the group Clawlike Things and like always, his excellent band Kid Dakota will play on the bill.
Little Man/Crossing Guard/Invincible Kids- Hexagon Bar
Some of the most solid bare bones rock and roll groups will be playing Friday night show at the Hexagon, where there is never a cover. Sounds good to me.
SATURDAY
The Doomtree crew had an amazing year where they released a great crew album and nearly every member put out an excellent solo disc. Early next year we are expecting albums from POS and Dessa, so the group should not be lacking for material.
Read above.
Some low key, but still compelling, alt country from Romantica and Dark Dark Dark, two constantly good local bands. All the Pretty Horses are not low key, but are definitely interesting. This show is free and should be a good time.
Vicious Vicious is a band that I have always thought were really fun and
underrated and they do not play very often, so check out their great pop music Saturday at the Turf.
